When asked about why I decided to serve in the Peace Corps, I realize the best explanation comes from another: Greg Mortenson and his book, “Three Cups of Tea”. The link above is a speech given by Mr. Mortenson at UC-Santa Barbara in May of 2008. His presentation is no substitute for the brilliant story telling of his book but emphasizes the need for proactive interventions.
